Matt Blaker has joined the cast of the phenomenally successful West End production of The Phantom of the Opera. Blaker will take on the lead role of The Phantom, making his debut on 12 September 2023. Blaker is an English actor whose musical theatre credits include The Phantom of the Opera (UK tour), Jesus Christ Superstar (UK tour), and The Book of Mormon (West End). He graduated from the Guildford School of Acting with a First-Class Degree in Musical Theatre.
The Phantom of the Opera is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Charles Hart, based on the 1910 novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux. The musical tells the story of a masked figure who terrorizes the Paris Opera House and falls in love with a young soprano, Christine Daae. The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most successful musicals in history, having been performed in over 40 countries and translated into 27 languages. The West End production of The Phantom of the Opera has been running since 1986, making it the longest-running show in West End history.
